A
1 in / 2.5 cm difference
very small volume
Sister hint: 30B / 34AA
Cup letters only mean something next to a band. The grid below puts every cup on a 32 band, so the volumes are actually comparable.

Every card uses the same baseline and scale. Only cup depth and forward projection change from left to right.

Each step in this chart adds about one inch of difference from the rounded band, while the physical cup changes gradually. These labels are the US sequence used by the calculator; UK letters diverge after DD.

A 32C holds less volume than a 38C: same letter, different bra. Cup letters are a ratio, not a volume, and projection, root width, fullness distribution, and bra construction all change the geometry of a fitted cup.
| Size | Band | Difference | Comparison |
|---|---|---|---|
| 32C | 32 | ≈3 in | The C volume represented by this visual grid. |
| 34C | 34 | ≈3 in | More cup volume than 32C despite the same letter. |
| 38C | 38 | ≈3 in | More cup volume again; letter alone does not compare volume. |
The grid compares measurement steps on one consistent band; it does not define how any person should look. These answers clarify what a cup letter can and cannot tell you.
A C cup means about a 3-inch difference between the full bust and rounded band in this guide. Its appearance varies with band size, breast shape, and bra construction. The 32-band grid gives a consistent visual comparison, but a 38C holds more volume than a 32C despite using the same letter.
On the same band, a D cup is one cup step larger than a C cup: about a 4-inch difference rather than about a 3-inch difference in this chart. The visual change is gradual, not a judgment about a body. Cup shape and bra style can also make the two labels look different.
It depends on the labeling system. In US sizing, DD is usually followed by DDD or E; in UK sizing, DD is followed by E. The labels may refer to neighboring volume steps, but they are not always interchangeable. Check whether a brand uses US or UK cup lettering before ordering.
Cup letters describe a measurement ratio, not a single visual shape. Band size changes cup volume, and projection, root width, fullness distribution, and bra construction change how a cup sits. Two people can wear the same labeled size while seeing a different outline because their bodies and the bra’s geometry differ.
There is no universal smallest or largest cup because brands use different size ranges and cup sequences. This comparison grid starts at A and ends at H to show a clear progression on one band. The shared calculator continues through K in US notation, while some brands offer additional sizes or different labels.
